A moment of pure panic quickly turned into viral entertainment. Social media user @Noguchi_Higuchi glanced toward their rainy balcony and was horrified to see what looked like their Nintendo Switch submerged under a layer of murky water.
The viral photo perfectly sold the disaster: an orange-and-purple Switch appeared to be floating amidst ripples on a wet, tiled floor. Fortunately, the catastrophe was entirely an optical illusion. The console was actually resting safely inside on a floor mat, and a combination of window glass, curtains, and wet outdoor surfaces perfectly reflected the device to make it look drowned.
Follow-up images cleared up the confusion by mapping out exactly how the reflection aligned. The owner admitted to screaming and checking the console five times to ensure it was dry—a highly relatable tech scare that struck a major chord online.
