Isao Machii is a Japanese Iaido master from Kawanishi who began training in traditional swordsmanship at age five. Today, he is one of the world's most accomplished martial artists, holding six Guinness World Records for his extraordinary speed and precision.
Machii became an internet sensation for slicing a BB pellet—traveling over 158 km/h—clean in half with a single sword draw. Researchers who analyzed the feat concluded that he does not visually track the fast-moving projectile. Instead, his brain instantly calculates and visualizes its exact trajectory before executing the strike with incredible anticipatory processing. His other records include the most sword cuts to a mat and the fastest 1,000 cuts.
As the head of the Shusinryu Iaijutsu school, Machii teaches traditional techniques to pass on his craft, openly noting that his world records are his way of securing a lasting legacy in martial arts history.
