The Marvel noir series earned 11 Emmy nominations across technical, musical, and stunt categories, making it the second most-nominated Marvel show in history behind WandaVision. However, Nicolas Cage was completely snubbed for his leading role as Ben Reilly—a washed-up 1930s private investigator and former superhero—despite his performance being the most praised element of the show.
The series, which notably follows Reilly instead of Peter Parker, took a bold creative swing by releasing in both black-and-white and full color. Critics loved the noir homage, giving it a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score as viewers streamed nearly a billion minutes in week one. Interestingly, the show submitted itself as a comedy, competing against Hacks and Only Murders in the Building.
Showrunner Oren Uziel and Cage are both eager for a second season, potentially set during WWII. Winners will be revealed at the 78th Emmy Awards on September 14, 2026.
